The Government provides funding to ensure the development of high quality sport within schools. This is around £16k plus an amount per pupil depending on the number of pupil on roll. Schools use the funding to create a long term sustainable sports plan which includes high-quality staff training, support for schools from local Schools Games Officers (our link is based at Mountbatten School) and potentially equipment. All classes at NBJS receive at least one hour of indoor PE (gymnastics/dance) and one hour of outdoor games. A wide variety of clubs is offered - some chargeable from outside providers - others run by school staff.

As a school we have adopted a whole school approach to the Active Mile, which takes place in the last 15 minutes of the lunch-time break.
